OLYPMIC WEIGHTLIFTING COMPETITION by UAE Olympic Weightlifting Federation.

OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTING is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with the aim of successfully lifting the heaviest lifts.

Athletes have three attempts in snatch and clean and jerk, the heaviest lifts in each movement give the total. The ratio between the best total and body weight of athlete determines the winners and medalists

FEMALE WEIGHT CLASSES

LIGHT WEIGHT

(combining three weight classes 48 kg to 58 kg).

MIDDLE WEIGHT

(combining three weight classes 58.01 kg to 69 kg).

HEAVY WEIGHT

(combining three weight classes 69.01 kg to 86+kg).

MALE WEIGHT CLASSES

LIGHT WEIGHT

(combining three weight classes 60kg to 71kg).

MIDDLE WEIGHT

(combining three weight classes 71.01 kg to 88kg).

HEAVY WEIGHT

(combining three weight classes 88.01kg to 110+kg).

TECHNICAL RULES

  1. Athletes will approach the platform based on the increasing weight order, beginning with the lowest weight for both snatch and clean and jerk and progressing to the heaviest.
  2. During the weight-in process, athletes are permitted to modify their first attempts.
  3. Throughout the competition, athletes can change the declared weight for their first, second, and third attempts up to two times for each attempt.
  4. Every athlete has one minute allocated for the lift until they commence lifting the bar.
  5. If an athlete has consecutive lifts during the competition, they are granted a two minute rest period between each attempt.
